Vampire fiction isn't my usual reading, but this looked like fun so I decided to give it a try. It's the fast-paced, exciting story of Gianna, the daughter of a mob boss, who discovers that Caleb, a man doing business with her father, isn't what he appears to be and that she has a destiny that will thrust her into a dangerous war between vampires and Dark Angels.

The story is fast-moving, with a twist and then another twist at the end that kept me guessing. Gianna is tough and spunky, and Caleb is extremely cool. The history between the vampires and the Dark Angels was intriguing, and I'll have to read the next book at least to find out more about that!

To me, the drawback of the book is that when I say fast-moving, I mean fast. It speeds by, without a lot of character development or worldbuilding, and events happen one right after another without much time to process it all or transition from one thing to the next. I would like to have a little more breathing room, get to know the characters and the world on a deeper level, have a little more reflection on past events and anticipation of what's going to happen next. The Guardians could probably stand to be twice as long as it is (and when I say I wish a book was longer, that's a good thing!) But I'll take a book that moves too fast over one where you read and read and nothing. ever. happens.

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It grabbed my attention from the very beginning to the end.
I recommend this book, the only problem was the editing. Nothing major just little things, it also became a little confusing at times as to who was talking. I had to reread the paragraph to make sure I understood it correctly. Besides this it was a very delightful book.
The story is an unusual mix of mobsters, vampires and creatures, which I think of as demons. Gianna, the main character is tough as nails and sassy. I liked her right away. There is loads of action in this book, something I like much. I found the male character names, Caleb, Cage, and Cain too similar and at times confusing as to what role they were playing in the story plot. The story plot moves very fast and has a tendency to jump from one scene to another with little or vague transition. I did like the story, and look forward to reading the next in the series.

Then he father gives her a job that starts out normal but the man she meets and the events that play out leave her to fight for survival in a world she had no idea about.. Gianna feels like she has lost everything. She learns to adapt to her new mate and life but what price she will she have to pay. Will she be able to handle the secrets kept from her and what sacrifice will she have to make? I enjoyed this book it's filled with action hot scenes.. Beware the ending won't let u go!
I asked this author to donate a signed copy of this book not realizing that it was only on e book format. She sent a signed picture of the book cover for my nephew who we are having a benefit auction for which just made my day. So I thought this author was cool before I ever even read her book. But on to the book review. This book was so good I didn't want to stop reading it, but I had to go to bed since I had to work the next morning, so when I got home from work I read it some more until once again I had to go to bed because being at work by 3 a m is hard when it is 11 pm. Anyway I recommend any one who likes this the genre of books to read this one you will for sure love it. Have a wonderful night and enjoy the read.
Loved this book, this vampire world is strange. Different from others. I like different. I also love that there are strong female characters.

There is one thing only confusing me towards the end, but I think it would be a spoiler. So I cannot say it here. When you finish the book you will know what it is.

I enjoyed it. It is both dark and mysterious. I am now trying to imagine my blood being 'special' and desired by all. . . Even though it is just the 1st in a series, it is not a cliffhanger. There is a logical conclusion at the end and also, there are some teasers of stuff to come.

Just what I wanted. Another world to explore.
I have been meaning to read this book for a few months now. When I finally did read it, I finished the book in a few hours. I couldn't put it down! I really liked it. Yes I agree that the book was a little fast (read some of the reviews before hand), but I think the book was overall good. Yes, Jen, probably could of have got two books out of this book, if everything wasn't moving along so fast, but it did just fine moving fast; although I would of liked so of the scenes longer. I liked the twist she had about the vampires, that some of them had wings. I wasn't expecting that ending at all, and I love that she gave HERSELF the opportunity to do whatever she wanted in the next book. For all we know is that Gianna could be dreaming from Caleb, and her family could still be dead. I can't wait to read the next book and find out!
I'm a fan of both mob books and vampires. So thought I would really like this read, which I did. I wasn't sure what to expect at first though, with this combination. The author did a great job of combining the two. Once I started reading it, I had to finish it. I loved how Gianna isn't your damsel in distress type of female lead character. She has a mouth, and is easy to anger. She doesn't let anything, like a vampire or a toughguy, stop her either. Her dad is the mob boss. It's unusual for a daughter to be working in the "family business". But she's just as tough as the men. I had ideas for where I thought the story line was going, but boy was I wrong at the end. Can't wait to read the next one.
